MaintLog Terms of Service

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Johnson Ventures LLC d/b/a CodePilot Studios ("CodePilot Studios," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the MaintLog mobile application, together with any updates, and any related services (collectively, the "App").

By downloading, installing, or using the App — including by tapping "I Agree & Continue" on first launch — you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms are the authoritative version. The summary shown inside the App is provided for convenience and incorporates these Terms by reference. Where the in-App summary and this page differ, this page controls.

Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference and forms part of this agreement.

2. License Grant & Restrictions

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, CodePilot Studios grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use one copy of the App on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business record-keeping purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the App or any part of it;
• Decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, underlying ideas, structure, or algorithms of the App, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits this notwithstanding a contractual prohibition;
• Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the App;
• Extract, scrape, harvest, mirror, or systematically copy any database, specification data, task template, interval logic, or other content contained in or generated by the App, whether by automated means or otherwise;
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any licensing, entitlement, subscription, advertising, or security mechanism in the App, including any mechanism that gates MaintLog Pro features;
• Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice;
• Use the App to build, train, or improve a competing product or service, or to develop a machine-learning model from its content or output;
• Use the App in violation of any applicable law, or in any jurisdiction subject to a United States embargo, or if you appear on any U.S. government restricted-party list.

All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by CodePilot Studios. This is a license, not a sale; you acquire no ownership interest in the App.

3. Intellectual Property & Ownership

The App and all of its contents are the exclusive property of Johnson Ventures LLC d/b/a CodePilot Studios and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. This includes, without limitation:

• All source code, object code, compiled binaries, and software architecture;
• The user interface, screen layouts, visual design, iconography, illustrations, and animation;
• The database schema, data model, and the selection, structure, coordination, and arrangement of the App's compiled reference data — including its maintenance task templates, service-interval logic, and equipment specification tables;
• All text, documentation, and marketing materials;
• The name "MaintLog," the MaintLog logo, "CodePilot Studios," and the CodePilot Studios logo.

"MaintLog" and the MaintLog logo are trademarks of Johnson Ventures LLC d/b/a CodePilot Studios. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

4. Your Data

You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information you enter, and for ensuring you have the right to store any document or photograph you add to the App.

5. MaintLog Pro — Subscriptions & Billing

The App is free to download and use. Certain features ("MaintLog Pro") require a paid upgrade, offered as either an auto-renewing annual subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.

6. Third-Party Data Sources & Accuracy

Certain App features retrieve information from third-party and government sources, including the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC / SaferProducts.gov), the Google Places API, and the Nominatim geocoding service operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

This information is provided by those sources, not by us. We do not warrant its accuracy, completeness, currency, or availability. Recall data in particular may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable, and the absence of a recall result in the App is not confirmation that no recall exists for your vehicle, appliance, or equipment.

Reference to any government agency or dataset does not imply that agency's endorsement, sponsorship, or approval of the App or of CodePilot Studios.

Address data returned by the Nominatim service is derived from OpenStreetMap and is © OpenStreetMap contributors, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL).

Third-party services are subject to their own terms and may be modified, rate-limited, or discontinued by their operators at any time, which may cause the corresponding App feature to degrade or stop working.

7. Third-Party Trademarks & Nominative Use

The App may display the names, model designations, or part numbers of vehicle, appliance, and equipment manufacturers — including but not limited to Ford, Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, RAM, Subaru, BMW, John Deere, Whirlpool, Carrier, and others — as well as the names of third-party services such as Amazon, Google, and NHTSA.

All such names, marks, and logos are the property of their respective owners. They are used solely for nominative and descriptive purposes — to identify the asset you are tracking or the source of information displayed. Their use does not indicate any affiliation with, sponsorship by, endorsement by, or partnership with those owners, and CodePilot Studios claims no rights in them.

MaintLog is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any vehicle, appliance, or equipment manufacturer.

You are solely responsible for the maintenance, safe operation, and regulatory compliance of your vehicles, home, appliances, and equipment. CodePilot Studios is not responsible for and disclaims all liability arising from:

• Mechanical failure, breakdown, property damage, personal injury, or death;
• Maintenance performed, deferred, or omitted in reliance on the App;
• A recall you did not learn of, learned of late, or did not act upon;
• Warranty claims denied due to maintenance records, intervals, or documentation;
• Reminders or notifications that were delayed, suppressed by your device, or not delivered;
• Inaccurate specification, interval, cost, or fuel-economy data;
• Decisions made in reliance on any figure, projection, or report the App produces.

Records exported from the App are generated from data you entered. We make no representation that any export is complete, accurate, or acceptable to any third party such as a dealer, insurer, warranty administrator, or buyer.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In that case, any implied warranty is limited to the shortest period permitted by law.

11. Limitation of Liability

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Backups & Data Loss

MaintLog stores your records on your device. We keep no copy and cannot recover your data. Deleting the App, losing or resetting your device, or a device or storage failure will permanently destroy any data not separately backed up.

You are solely responsible for maintaining your own backups using the App's Export and Backup features. Exported backup files are unencrypted; store and share them accordingly.

13. Termination & Availability

You may terminate this agreement at any time by uninstalling the App. We may suspend or terminate your license immediately if you materially breach these Terms.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time, with or without notice. If we permanently discontinue the App, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice so you can export your data. Sections 3, 4, 6 through 12, and 14 through 16 survive termination.

15. Governing Law & Venue

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to the App, are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, together with applicable United States federal law. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

You and CodePilot Studios agree that the state and federal courts located in the State of Michigan have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. This does not prevent either party from bringing an individual claim in a small-claims court of competent jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection laws afford you greater rights, or whose laws require that disputes be heard in your place of residence, nothing in this section deprives you of those protections or that right.

Nothing in these Terms prevents CodePilot Studios from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.

16. General Provisions

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CodePilot Studios regarding the App and supersede all prior understandings.

Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.

No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Changes to These Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the App. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the App and uninstall it.
